How to derive it
Start from a formula that defines Stefan–Boltzmann constant σ, then replace each quantity with its dimensions. M is mass, L is length, T is time, K is temperature.
- Rearrange: σ = (power ÷ area) ÷ T⁴
- = ([ML²T⁻³] ÷ [L²]) ÷ [K⁴]
- So [Stefan–Boltzmann constant σ] = [MT⁻³K⁻⁴], also written [M¹L⁰T⁻³K⁻⁴].
