The exam is computer-based. Since 2025 there's no choice in Section B: all five numerical questions in each subject must be attempted, and a wrong numerical answer now loses a mark, the same as an MCQ.

- Wrong answer: −1 (MCQ and numerical)
- Not attempted or marked for review without an answer: 0

A time plan that works for most students
NTA doesn't fix time per subject, so you choose. This split is a common starting point. Try it in a full mock with the mock test timer and adjust.

How many questions are there in JEE Main 2027?
75 in Paper 1: 25 each in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Each subject has 20 MCQs and 5 numerical-answer questions, all compulsory.
Is there negative marking in JEE Main numerical questions?
Yes. Since 2025, a wrong numerical answer gets −1, the same as an MCQ.
What is the total marks of JEE Main?
300 marks: 100 per subject, 4 marks per question.
How long is the JEE Main exam?
3 hours. Candidates with benchmark disabilities who are eligible for a scribe or compensatory time get 4 hours.
