How NEET is marked

Score = (4 × correct) − (1 × wrong)
  • 180 questions, all compulsory: 45 Physics, 45 Chemistry, 90 Biology (Botany + Zoology). There's no optional section anymore.
  • Maximum 720 marks. A blank answer is 0, a wrong answer is −1.
  • If NTA drops a question, everyone gets +4 for it.

Where marks are really lost

Each wrong answer is a 5-mark swing: you lose 1 instead of gaining 4. Ten careless mistakes cost 50 marks, which at 600 can mean tens of thousands of ranks. Use the accuracy number above. Toppers usually stay above 95%.

Questions students ask

Four marks for every correct answer, minus one for every wrong answer. Unattempted questions score zero.

How many questions are there in NEET 2027?

180 compulsory questions: 45 Physics, 45 Chemistry and 90 Biology, for 720 marks.

Is it better to leave a question or guess?

A blind guess with four options is worth +0.25 marks on average. If you can remove one or two wrong options first, guessing is worth it.
