Expected JEE Main 2027 cutoff
For 2027 we expect the General cutoff for JEE Advanced to land between 92.8 and 94.0 percentile. It has stayed between 93.1 and 93.4 for three years in a row.
| Category | Expected percentile | Marks, average shift |
|---|---|---|
| General (UR) | 92.8 – 94.0 | ≈ 82–88 |
| GEN-EWS | 80.0 – 83.0 | ≈ 48–53 |
| OBC-NCL | 79.0 – 82.0 | ≈ 46–50 |
| SC | 59.5 – 64.5 | ≈ 30–33 |
| ST | 46.0 – 52.5 | ≈ 23–26 |
PwD candidates of every category have needed almost nothing (below 0.01 percentile) in recent years.
How the cutoff has moved
The General cutoff rose by almost 5 percentile between 2022 and 2024, and has barely moved since. EWS and OBC cutoffs followed the same path.

How NTA sets it
The top 2,50,000 students (across categories, by reservation share) qualify for JEE Advanced. NTA takes the percentile of the last student in each category's quota as that category's cutoff. So the cutoff isn't fixed in advance; it falls out of how everyone scored.
Clearing the cutoff isn't the only hurdle. To take an IIT, NIT or IIIT seat you also need 75% in Class 12 (65% for SC, ST and PwD) or a place in your board's top 20 percentile. Check yours with the 75% criteria calculator, and see the full marks vs percentile table.
