Expected NEET 2027 cutoff
We expect the General qualifying cutoff to fall between 150 and 215 marks. The spread is wide because NEET's cutoff follows paper difficulty: it was 144 in the tough 2025 paper and 213 in the easier 2026 one.

How the NEET cutoff works
NTA doesn't fix marks in advance. It sets a percentile: you must score more than 50% of all candidates (General and EWS), 40% (OBC, SC, ST) or 45% (UR-PwD). With about 20 lakh students, the General cutoff is roughly the marks of the 10-lakhth student. When the paper is easy, everyone scores more and the cutoff rises.

Is the NEET cutoff enough for MBBS admission?
No. It only makes you eligible for counselling. Seats are allotted by rank, and government MBBS seats need far higher marks.
Why did the NEET cutoff go up in 2026?
The 2026 paper was easier, so scores rose across the board. Since the cutoff is a percentile, the marks needed rose with them.
