How to derive it
Start from a formula that defines magnetic flux, then replace each quantity with its dimensions. M is mass, L is length, T is time, A is electric current.
- Φ = magnetic field × area = [MT⁻²A⁻¹] × [L²]
- So [magnetic flux] = [ML²T⁻²A⁻¹], also written [M¹L²T⁻²A⁻¹].

Questions students ask
What is the dimensional formula of magnetic flux?
[ML²T⁻²A⁻¹] (or [M¹L²T⁻²A⁻¹]), from Φ = B × A. Its SI unit is weber (Wb) = T m².
What are the dimensions of magnetic flux?
M: 1, L: 2, T: -2, A: -1.
What is the SI unit of magnetic flux?
weber (Wb) = T m².
