How to derive it
Start from a formula that defines conductance, then replace each quantity with its dimensions. M is mass, L is length, T is time, A is electric current.
- G = 1 ÷ resistance = 1 ÷ [ML²T⁻³A⁻²]
- So [conductance] = [M⁻¹L⁻²T³A²].

Questions students ask
What is the dimensional formula of conductance?
[M⁻¹L⁻²T³A²], from G = 1 ÷ R. Its SI unit is siemens (S) = Ω⁻¹.
What are the dimensions of conductance?
M: -1, L: -2, T: 3, A: 2.
What is the SI unit of conductance?
