How the JoSAA college predictor works
It checks your rank against the official closing ranks from JoSAA 2026 round 5: the last rank that got each seat. If a seat closed at a rank equal to or worse than yours, a student with your rank got it. Nothing is estimated; every number comes from josaa.admissions.nic.in.
- Likely: the seat closed at least 15% beyond your rank.
- Borderline: it closed between your rank and 15% beyond it.
- Just missed: it closed up to 15% before your rank. These open up in some years and in later rounds.
Which rank counts where
- NITs, IIITs and GFTIs use your JEE Main rank. Open seats use your CRL rank, and EWS, OBC-NCL, SC and ST seats use your category rank.
- IITs use your JEE Advanced rank. Add it under "Add JEE Advanced rank" to see IIT seats.
- Home state: the 32 NITs keep about half their seats for students who passed Class 12 in that state. Those seats often close at very different ranks, so pick your state.

Questions students ask
Which NIT can I get with 20,000 rank?
Check the predictor above with your category and home state. At a General CRL of 20,000, students got many branches at mid-ranked NITs, and core branches at some top NITs through home-state quota.
Does JoSAA use percentile or rank?
Rank. JoSAA allots seats by your JEE Main All India Rank (CRL or category rank) for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs, and your JEE Advanced rank for IITs.
What is home-state quota in NITs?
Each NIT keeps about 50% of its seats for students who passed Class 12 from the state it's in. The rest are open to students from other states.
Is this data official?
Yes. These are the official JoSAA 2026 round 5 closing ranks, copied without changes. Future years will be different.
Do I need 75% in Class 12 for JoSAA?
Yes: 75% (65% for SC, ST and PwD) or a place in the top 20 percentile of your board. Check it with the 75% criteria calculator.
