What a rank of 1,00,000 means

Rank in JEE Main comes straight from percentile: rank ≈ (100 − percentile) × number of candidates ÷ 100. With 15,38,468 students in 2026, 93.5 percentile is where 1,00,000 students are above you. The marks behind that percentile depend on your shift, because NTA works out percentile separately for every shift.

At this percentile you clear the JEE Advanced cutoff for every category (2026 cutoffs). Newer NITs, IIITs and GFTIs are realistic through home-state quota and later JoSAA rounds, plus good state engineering colleges.

This is a Common Rank List (CRL) rank. If you're in a reserved category, your category rank is much smaller than your CRL rank, and that's the rank JoSAA uses for category seats. These are estimates from the 2025 and 2026 marks-vs-percentile pattern.
