The formula NTA's percentile gives you
Your percentile already tells you what share of students you beat. Turning it into a rank is simple arithmetic:
For 2026, about 15,38,468 unique students appeared. So at 98 percentile: (100 − 98) × 15,38,468 ÷ 100 ≈ 30,769. For 2027 we'll update the number once NTA publishes it; you can change it yourself in the tool.
The rank you get is your Common Rank List (CRL) rank. Your category rank is lower (better), because it only counts students in your category.
